Meet Matilda Black, a High School Student living on her own. How did this happen? I'm about to tell you exactly how this happened!
Matilda Black grew up in the Black family home with her parents Nick and Sabrina Black and their family dog, ChaCha. Her parents inherited the Black family home by her Grandmother, Hilda, who was no longer around. There were many stories about her family coming from a line of witches, but her mother reassured her that it is not true. Despite her mom telling her these stories are not true, she could not help but wonder.. Growing up she always felt different from the rest of her classmates. She could tell if something was going to happen before it even happened.
On a sunny Wednesday afternoon when Matilda was walking home from school, she could see in a distance a big black cloud of smoke. This was in the direction of the Black family home. She immediately started running back home.. only to find that it was her house on fire. She wanted to run inside to find her parents but the fire marshals stopped her and told her that she may not go in, it is far too dangerous.
After some time has passed, the fire was put out, still plenty of smoke in the air. The fire marshals brought out Matilda's parents, but they were not moving. It was not long after, that the paramedics informed Matilda there is nothing they can do further, both her parents had passed on during the fire.
Enraged, Matilda ran, she just kept running for days, taking shelter under bridges, crying for her parents, wondering what happened to ChaCha the family dog. She dug in bins behind restaurants to look for food scraps to eat, until one day an elder Lady found her and took her into her home.
The elder Lady never revealed her identity, but there was something very mysterious about her. She told Matilda to drink her tea and life will go on. Matilda drank her tea and suddenly felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. The elder Lady told her to take a bath and then go to sleep in the bedroom at the end of the hallway. Matilda did not question it, she just did as the elder Lady told her to do. The bedroom seemed more like the main room rather than the guest room.
The next morning she woke up and looked all over the house for the elder Lady. She was nowhere to be seen. A note on the kitchen counter caught her eye. It read as follows:
"Dear My Sweetest Matilda
I know you have so many questions and there is so much you do not know about your family history, but you need to stay strong and brave dear child. It is almost your sixteenth birthday, a lot is about to change. You will soon know what I mean.
Do not fight it, just embrace it and you will do wonders.
More letters will come to you with information about your family history and what happened at the Black family home, but for now dear child, rest up in your new home and go to school like normal.

Matilda is so confused, but she is ready to go back to school and see what happens..
